How this works & what the ratings mean
We split your pasted list on commas and line breaks, then match each entry against our ingredient database, including common botanical (INCI) names. Anything rated 3/5 or higher in published comedogenicity literature is flagged.
- 0–1 — rated low on published lists
- 2 — rated low-to-moderate
- 3 — rated moderate
- 4–5 — rated high on published lists
Ratings describe ingredients as tested in published literature (the Fulton 1989 lineage), not finished formulas or individual skin. Ingredients we don't have data for are shown as “not in our database yet” — we never display a guessed number.
